The Standing Wave

Notes on systems that mostly work.

How this site is built.

The Standing Wave runs on CaeroBlog: Node and Express, server-rendered, with SQLite for storage. No client framework, no build step, no CSS pipeline. A page is a string, assembled per request.

Everything is in one database file — posts, contributors, comments, moderation history, and the record of every model call. Backing the site up means copying that file.

Set in whatever serif your system offers first — Iowan Old Style, Charter, or Georgia — with the interface in the system sans. Nothing is downloaded, so the first paint is the final paint.
